A opinião de um utilizador do pclinuxos

In some other forums I visit, I've been following threads asking for help setting up wireless in Ubuntu. Apparently, there are some tricks involved; sometimes is easy sometimes is hard.

So, being a curious newbie, I decided to try with PCLOS.

I tried an USB Wireless adapter. This one has an Ralink chipset. This is how I did it:

1 - I plugged it in.

That was basically it! I then went to network configuration, and selected Wireless. The adapter had been detected already. I clicked "next" after "next" (auto IP via DHCP) and in about one minute I was connected and surfing.

A. MA. ZING!!!

The same happened with a Atheros based PCI adapter. Just plug and play.

So, I wanted a new challenge. Tried with an odd "Marvel" chipset USB adapter. I wanted to see how this one did, for I had spent a lot of time installing it under Windoes, and after several attempts and reboots it was still not working.

This one was more difficult. Twice as difficult actually. It took me full 2 minutes. Angry Grin
It required Ndiswrapper. So, I just put the CD with the drivers in, selected the appropriate inf file, and that was it.
